7 Days Postpartum

Time flew so fast!  I survived the first week of being a first time mom!  Of course, with a lot of help from the family.

I could vividly remember, one week ago today, waking up at five in the morning, feeling heavier than my usual pregnant weight struggle.  Went to pee, but noticed a continuously flowing colored liquid, I knew that, that was that,  I heard stories, I read stories.  Good thing that my baby's bag is ready, but mine was not.  So before I told my parents that IT was already the DAY, I went pulling out dresses I could still wear, my maternity pads, underwear and all others.  I kept as calm as possible, called my cousin who is a nurse to tell her about it.  I even drove myself to their house.  I'm not as prepared as I thought I would be, but I always mentally remind myself to just follow instructions.

At around 7 AM:  Cervix was just 2-3 cm dilated, I was sent home and was told to do some walking and squats. Which I did

At around 12 noon,  I was already feeling like I wanted to go to the toilet, every now and then, but couldn't pee or lose some bowel,  my Auntie said, that I'm almost in labor.

At around 1:30 PM  We went to the hospital again,  and was checked, I am already 4-5 cm dilated.  I was put on an IV and my baby was given some stress test.

At around 3 PM, I was already 7 cm dilated, I am mentally prepared for what I'm going through, the pains of labor, expectations and reality.  I was told that I'm going to be placed in labor room at 4 PM.

I was checked at around 430 PM,  doctor's order that I'm going to be induced, 9 cm,  and I was transferred to delivery room.  I was told to push, to breath through my mouth, to push because my baby was on its way out.  I was fully aware. The doctor and nurses were cheering me on.  Push, push, PUUUSSSH! And baby was out,  I instantly heard a cry,  I instinctively close my eyes and whispered, "THANK YOU LORD!".

My baby.  It was surreal,  the one I waited for nine months is finally here.  We were given some moments of skin to skin contact, she was placed on my chest, and she was crying, she was breathing, she was REAL!

And I was put to sleep, because the doctor is still going to fix me. :)

Everyday I am thankful.  Every day I am going to endure all the first things that are happening,  overwhelming, enlightening.  Being a mom.  Being a parent who has to take full responsibility of another human.

Thank you Lord.  Thank you.
