White Water Rafting

Went water rafting last Tuesday, November 9, 2010.  We booked through www.theredrafts.com as suggested by my cousin.  She thought that it’s a good idea to try a new rafting company.  Though I am not much of the risk-taker, for my sister and her boyfriend and the fun of doing things together with my loved-ones, I did!

I am afraid of water, simply because I don’t know how to swim, not really an excuse thought ‘coz life vests are provided for safety! I can’t really claim the scared part, since I did enjoy swimming (of course with my floaters on!) at Tinago Falls, Iligan City.

The first two rapids my tears began to flow, I have no idea how the raft would survive the rapids with us less experienced paddlers.  Good thing, my mom knows how to use the paddle and she kept on instructing me.  We just tried to be synchronized to keep the raft through the rapids and us onboard.

It ended two hours plus something.  Tired, hungry and contented with the day's adventure.  Changed to our dry clothes and waited for the jeepney to take us back to SM CDO, where we ate lunch and did a little shopping.

Pictures or did't happen? Here:

It was an amazing day,  the rafting was what we talked about the following days. Just could't get over it! Look at the pictures again and again with a smile in our faces. :D

You're Beautiful - A Korean Drama

09-16-2010

Just done with another Korean Drama, “You’re Beautiful”.  I feel like a teenager again.  Hwang-Tae-Kyung seemed dense and insensitive, but he is not, he cares about Go Mi Nam (Beauty) deep in him.  He agreed to play Yoo He Yi’s boyfriend, just so she wouldn’t tattle on Go Mi Nam being really a girl.  So the story goes, Go Mi Nam being a novice and trying to become a nun, is sweet and innocent, and got a huge crush on Hwang-Tae-Kyung!  And she holds her nose up (as a pressure point), making her look like she has a pig-nose (hence the Pig-Rabbit), Manager Ma taught her to do this every time she wants to control her sudden emotions. She usually does this around Hwang-Tae-Kyung.  It is only when he saw the pictures (one in which Go mi nam was looking at him holding her nose up) taken during their photoshoot that he realized that she was really into him.

The rest of the characters are awesome as well, Jeremy and Kang-Shin-Woo, also expressed their concern for Go Mi Nam.  They were attracted to her and also tried to woo her, but she knows she can’t like any of them for she was set on becoming a nun.  Plus its Hwang-Tae-Kyung’s presence that created fireworks for her.

If you want to know the ending, then you’ve got to watch it!

Go Mi Nam and Hwang-Tae-Kyung are the cutest couple ever!

I love it! I love it! I love it!

P.S.  look at Hwang-Tae-Kyung hugging pig-rabbit, which he himself made especially for Go Mi Nam.
           Oh, that lucky, lucky pig-rabbit!

P.P.S.  Pictures are not mine and my only intention is to share the cutesy of the movie.  :)

Viva Chile!

There’s something we all ought to be inspired about, the CHILE MINERS SUCCESSFUL RESCUE OPERATION.  A true example of leadership and unity, the success really started from the miners themselves.  If they weren’t obedient with the given rules given such situation they wouldn’t have survived the 69 days and several hours.  Biggest credits to the Chile Government for doing such great lengths to save the trapped miners with the help of American technology, everything went perfectly well.

--ber months ahead!

It’s August!  -ber months are coming!  Here’s my way to “start the ball rolling”, a whole month December 2010 to plan ahead.  It’s a time for merry-making and thanksgiving for everybody.  If my dad won’t be able to come home for Christmas, then he’ll be in Philippines by majority of summertime instead; same with my sister. :D  Anyway, wishlist anyone?  Time to start window shopping for Christmas gifts!

My bestfriend's Wedding

My bestfriend is getting married!  Yes, I have a part as the other maid of honor.  She sent me a message asking if I already have a design in mind, because she wanted to finalize the designs of the gowns that are going to be used for her wedding.  Of course, I haven’t thought about the gown yet, so I googled for her dress suggestion, a one shoulder dress and found this.

Looks perfect right?

I have to lose a bit of the belly and the flab in my arms and just focus on being gorgeous on her wedding day! I love this dress but more updates coming.

took a few hours to accompany my relatives to take a glimpse of one of the beautiful body of water in the City of Iligan. It was my boyfriend's first time to get there even when he used to be around Iligan City for a good four years.

What now?

Iligan City, my birthplace, my home; from memory recall, Iligan has always been like this; meaning there have always been better days and days like this when you don’t know who to trust and made you think, Are we safe?  There have been a series of brutality happening now.  Where were the cops?

Just because no more bombs blew up, we stop being vigilant, what if it happens again? We always take for granted our peace and our safety.  Now we have more notorious enemies.  We might meet them on the streets one day and unsuspecting and trusting in the goodness of our neighbors as we, might actually be victims.

What’s hindering our progress? From Industrial City of the South, acclaimed City of Waterfalls, why are we moving backwards? Privatization of Plants, Outsourcing of Employees (would mean lower purchasing power, less benefits), Threats to Peace and Order, Worsening of Traffic, Unresolved Water Supply, increased number of Out of School Youth, etc. Is this the Iligan we are so very hopeful of?

Threats to Peace and Order, we are all a little scared, to that tambay over that kanto, that someone who looks like an adik, or that drunk, and thieves or bandits.  Then there’s the bigger threat, those bad guys with guns, who would shot anybody who will resist. Worsening of Traffic is due to the never-ending-road-construction/reconstruction-your-taxes-are-working-for-you-bullish.  Okay, can our taxes work for something else like school improvements? Will you, Iligan City Government just leave these improvements to donations of politicos? Wouldn’t that be insulting to you and to us taxpayers? Unresolved water supply; this has been a disturbing problem Iligan has, absurd that we are in the so-called City of Waterfalls.  The most alarming of all is the increased number of out of school youth.  What happens to “the hope of our nation”?  What happens to them once they become full grown adults?  And what happens to their offsprings?

Glee

Glee is an obsession. You will surely fall in love with the characters as well with old and new songs they sing.  It’s one of the reasons I wished that I’m back in highschool. When kids are grouped into the popular and the not so popular; When Glee members are equated with nerds, and who knows what would have happened.  When Gleeks (term used to mean a fan of GLEE) fight back to bullies by singing and dancing.  When people think it not possible, but as Gleeks you do believe in your hearts that you can make it happen. You can make the Glee Club sound cool.

The latest buzz is that fellow Filipina; Charice Pempengco will be joining Glee next season.  Oh-Eem-Gee! Proud that a Filipina made it to Glee, but I am not really a fan.

Threads and Colors; Papers and Scissors

I love crafts! I adore colorful things.  It’s a passion, my unexplained bliss. Advantage:  You have ready supply of ribbons, threads, beads of all sorts.  Disadvantage:  They just pile up, if not used.  Storage space will slowly become a problem.

Creativity strikes anytime, but I have several unfinished projects.  I need someone to teach me to make those crocheted bags, start and actually finish it.  Once something starts to go wrong, I just stop when it feels like I’m in the middle of nowhere.  I have a boxful of projects, unfinished and never got back on it again.

Prioritizing is one of my weaknesses.  I’m turning 27 and yet I haven’t actually planned and do them in order of priority.  I’ll get to it.  I’ll start tonight.

I have scrapbooking materials.  I have crochet threads. I have beading materials. What to do?

A Girl’s Thoughts

Sometimes we want to get out of our comfort zones, yet there are just too many considerations.  We think too much that we forget to feel what we really want.  We get tired, we complain, but we keep it to ourselves, maybe that’s why they say that a girl’s heart is a deep as the ocean, because we layered our emotions there.  We are denial queens in our own ways.  We hope.  We hurt, but we never learn.  We hope again, expecting for change, expecting that things will go our way.

There’s so much we can do.  We can be our own bosses, but what are we still doing here? Slaving? Holding on to our patience and depending too much on our men?  We have to do something too! We can be that change.  One step at a time; one goal at a time; simple goals we could practice on.

We may be in love, but let us not be fools in love.

10.6.10

Gratitude.

I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.... People think pleasing God is all God care about.
But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.
~Alice Walker, The Color Purple, 1982

Look around you, there are many things we should all be thankful about.  Remember that we are only tenants in this world of beauty.  We do something to make it better; the nature gives back with a newly-bloomed flower, the butterflies, and the calming waves by the sea, the birds and the greening of the grass.

LDR -VSL

We are apart and there are times when I just want to be hugged by you.  Special days and I am celebrating alone.  I know you could have been here, but you are not.  Wished I am there, but I am not.  We augment the distance with email, chats, and sometimes text messages, but sometimes they are not enough, because there are times when I just want to be hugged by you.  When I am confused and my plans are not working, I sit still and think and my thoughts are about us.  The future we could be sharing.  The dreams we dream together.  Should they become real in time; me and you better together.  For now, I miss you, everyday.

30.3.10

Hold it.

I stayed silent;
The war is over.
When emotions overwhelm me,
I stayed quiet, frozen perhaps.
I try not to feel.
Indifference;
A blank face is all you will ever see.
Nothing can betray what I am inside.
Untouched surface, but deteriorating spirit;
How did I get to know love?

It still is shopping...

Online Window Shopping:

Shopping, it’s what we all girls love.  There are those who go for signature or branded products and there are also us who go for bargains and even pre-loved clothes.  As for me, I usually go for cheap shirts, pants that fit my 28 in waistline and 35 in hips. Ukay-ukay? I love! 50 pesos worth shirts/blouses; 80 pesos for a dress; and for less than a hundred pesos, you can already have a pair of nice short pants. This will be super convenient for you if you have a good eye for quality and style; you’d still look expensive and of course pretty for 1/8 the price.

If you don’t have the time to go to the mall then you should try shopping online! These online shops are already all over some social sites like facebook, friendster and multiply.  You get tagged in a picture, you view it, you scanned the whole album, and your heart skips a beat! You found something you terribly like, you scanned through the details, u-uh; the color and size are perfect! Only that the price is not right or you just like to think so.  Then you go from album to album, from online seller profile to another.  This is the start of another hobby, window shopping online.  It’s not costly at all; for some people, this will limit them from being impulsive buyers, no shopping rush, no hassles. You can try and discipline yourself, especially with the spending on clothes and all.

For every option, there are the disadvantages:  You can’t check on the actual item and just rely on the seller’s description; you have to wait for it to arrive (if it has to be shipped); there are so many choices available, that you would have a hard time choosing which one you really like and you may end up with something that u less prefer than the other, and others.

The impulsive buyer becomes a planned/budgeted shopper, in my case.

7.2.10

Start - Up.

I feel the need to improve my ideas, how I see and do things.  I should be more specific and direct to the point. Like, I want it to be this way, so why don’t we try it? Huh. What to do? Listen to music or read more good books and make sure to do away with the heart-wrenching telenovelas.  Life is not all about the drama; it’s about surviving and composing yourself.

There is a lot of catching up to do with my reading and digging (cleaning up my cluttered room). I still have lots of pictures from the holidays that should be printed.  I am missing Christmas already!

This reminded me, a friend said: Hindi porke't may DSLR ka, photographer ka na! wapak, reality in this DSLR times.

Happy Hearts' Day!

Valentines’ Day is just a few days away.  Prepare for a day of shades of red!  Behold the Romeo and Juliet in you. Suddenly you become poetic, even your ears are starting to turn red because of excitement.  Boyfriends and girlfriends go out of their way to come up with ideas on how to make this heart’s day extra special for the other.

Will it be flowers; a teddy bear; or a box of chocolates? All of the above perhaps, for your lucky girl.  Finding a gift for a girlfriend is quite a zilch.  A girl would love to receive anything as long as it denotes love and affection.  As for finding a gift for your man, it will be challenging.  You can get him something not too cheesy, something humorous like a "Love You Frog Prince Figurine".

Most importantly, enjoy the day, no pressures, because for most couples, spending time together is reason enough to celebrate.

2nd and 3rd day of 2009

this is an overdue post...

My family and I went for a last minute holiday trip. Destination:  Christmas Symbols Capital of the Philippines, Tangub City.  Pretty, pretty Christmas displays.  You could never discount the efforts of the makers, satisfactory for the tourists like us; let some of these pictures tell it.

Arrived at Ozamis Pier and visited some old structure:

And there was this Lighthouse, only that it was not in this picture:

Actually, there are too many pictures taken. Here are just the highlights:

Other pics are to follow. Internet connection sucks, uploading requires patience. Mine, particularly is running out. LOL. So here goes.

I have just added these pictures:

For a family get-away, it was so worth it. Even when there are religious issues, the Holiday Spirit lives on. :)
